Authorities and actors at all territorial levels acknowledge the needs to look beyond administrative boundaries to address key emerging challenges. While Functional Urban Areas (FUAs) delineated on the basis of commuting patterns have been the focus of dedicated policies, other types of functional interdependencies remain largely overlooked. The ESPON NoStaGeo project bridges this gap, comparing and assessesing the territorial governance approaches in place across different institutional contexts to handle non-standard geographies.
